Be Healthier Through Herbal Detox

Published by kitty under Uncategorized

Detoxification is one method of helping your body to excrete by its own of those toxins and other pollutants present in the body. Through detoxification, it can sanitize your system from the toxins that have been piled up for a long time. Thus, help us to recapture energy and to work better. We must also consider that detoxification is not a single process but a continuous process. While on detoxification, slower adjustments are better than the quick and short changes. These changes include the amount and the types of foods to be taken. Like eating healthier foods, and avoiding alcohol, sugar, caffeine, processed foods, drugs and foods that came from fast food chains. Organic diet is highly recommended and also drinking plenty of water regularly, accompanied by exercises program to assist in the detoxification process.

By using herbs in detoxification process, it suggests a short but rationally method of cleansing. Several herbs could assist also in a faster metabolism and it smoothens the flow of blood in other important organs in the body. Like for instance, antifungal herbs prevents the development of yeasts that could cause candida albicans and antioxidants that helps in the removal of free radicals.

Practically, people constantly talk about fasting once you undergo detox. This diet is not really considered necessary and favorable. Fasting does not always signify abstaining from foods and drinks. It does not also signify depression or austere. Fasting is not advisable to take for a period of more than 24 hours and during this period; you should drink water as many as you can. Anybody who always considers fasting must be a person who is in good shape. It is not suggested for older people, young kids and those who are chronically sick. It is not also recommended for people who are addicted to alcohol and drugs, those who have been exposed to toxic chemicals and those who are currently in a serious infection. With regards to these conditions, there is a need to seek the advice of a physician before starting on this diet. This is applicable also for pregnant mothers and for women who breastfed their babies.

If we go on a detoxification, we have to think of life more seriously. It is also a time to reflect emotionally and also to study the reasons which might have caused the pollutants. And then it is also the point in time to deal with this basis and create the essential changes to stop the amount of toxins from increasing rapidly. And now, this is the time to indulge your self in the relaxation of body and mind. Like going to saunas, herbal wrap, steam rooms, mineral baths and massage. All of these examples will be of great help in the detoxification process.

Several herbs to be use for detoxification:

Ordinary Laxatives and Diuretics.

While you are in this fasting process, it is necessary that you maintain your kidneys functioning well because they are tremendously significant in the process of excreting those unwanted toxins.

Juniper berries with a scientific name of Juniperus communis, helps in strengthening and cleaning the bladder, urinary passageway and the kidneys. As a word of advice for people who will use this fruit, this is not to be use in a long period of time. Use it only from time to time and for people who are suffering from kidney infection, this will act as a tough cleanser. Nettle or Urtica dioica is an example of an effective diuretic like the burdock roots which is like the Nettle because of its gentle and effective diuretic function.

Psyllium husks and seeds which is also known as Plantago indica, Plantago ovata and Pantago psyllium are fine and moderate kinds of natural laxative. They are also adaptogenic and acts as an excellent cure for Inflammatory Bowel Disease or Irritable Bowel Syndrome. Liquorice root is known as the great synchronizer in the practice of Chinese medicine. It has the properties of a good and moderately laxative and effective in the nourishment of the adrenal glands. Alfalfa sprouts are also effective as the multipurpose laxative.

Cleanse the liver

Milk thistle or also known as Carduus marianus and Silybum marianum assists in excreting toxins and rejuvenates the liver, as well as the dandelion root or Taraxacum officinale. This milk thistle includes silymarin which is proven to aid in the restoration of the liver and also function as an antioxidant. Where as, dandelion root also assist in the elimination of waste from the gallbladder and the liver. Milk thistle is known to be a natural antioxidant.

The Lymphatic system

One role of the lymphatic system is to excrete toxins and waste from the cells in our body. Lots of people consider cellulite is an indication of insufficient lymphatic drainage. There are lots of herbs that are best to help the stimulation of the lymphatic system and excrete the toxins out from our body through the pores of the skin. The following are one of the excellent examples which are in oil form. Basil or the Ocimum basilicum, thyme or the Thymus vulgarus, celery or the Apium graveolens, rosemary or the Rosmarinus officinalis, fennel or the Foeniculum vulgare, grapefruit or the Citrus paradise and the lemon or the Citrus limon. A word of advice for thymus, use it cautiously because it can cause irritation when it touches the skin.

All you have to do is combine three kinds of these dissimilar oils to create a total of fifteen to twenty drops in an ounce of carrier oil which is used for massage therapy or skin brushing.

Rheumatoid Arthritis - How Can it Be Avoided?

Published by kitty under Uncategorized

Rheumatoid Arthritis is by far the most serious, painful and potentially crippling form of arthritis. It is recurrent and characterized by pain, swelling and stiffness. It usually attacks the joints primarily, but may also affect other supporting connective tissues throughout the body. Thus, making a person weak, accompanied by fatigue, fever and difficulty ambulating. Various studies were done but the cause is not known, the cure is not yet discovered, but it can be controlled. Early diagnosis can be made to control symptoms since it can affect people, regardless of age and time. And also proper medical care and proper foods, which contains carbohydrates, protein, fats, vitamins and minerals, are best advised in order to control symptoms.

Some experts consider foods like vegetables and foods with high content of fish oil, which is rich in Vitamin D, to fight rheumatoid arthritis. Also when taking other drugs, drinking alcohol and other drinks like coffee should be avoided so as letting the drug to take effect.

Getting Published - More Tips

Published by kitty under Uncategorized

The Query Letter Content, Non-Fiction

In previous posts, we’ve explained why professionals prefer short, succinct query letters, and how to present them. It’s time to consider the query letter’s content.

For query letters, you should use:

A business-type letterhead that gives your name and contact information basic white or off-white 8½ x 11-inch paper a standard typeface that can be read easily; avoid script or other typefaces that are difficult to read, even if you think they are eye-catching 10- or 12-point type black ink margins of 1½ inches at the top and bottom, and at least 1 inch on the sides an insert of a self-addressed, stamped envelope with the proper amount of postage All enclosures sent with your query letter should be typed on good quality paper stock and in black ink. Don’t get fancy or, worse yet, cute. Avoid bold colors, gimmicky borders, or other features that could distract from your message.

Strive for brevity and clarity. Make your letters short, well-written, and to the point. Your main objective should be to get your foot in the door and to make the publisher curious enough to ask for more information about your book. The best way to do so is to clearly and professionally communicate the specialness of your book idea in plain, straightforward, easily understood English.

Make sure you’ve researched, so your letter isn’t headed for immediate rejection: “An immediate turnoff is when I receive an inquiry that shows that the writer hasn’t done enough research,” agent Edward Knappman, of New England Publishing Associates, explains. “If I get an inquiry regarding a novel, it’s obvious that they haven’t done enough research to learn that we don’t handle fiction. If they haven’t researched our agency, the first thing I ask is, ‘How can they do enough research for the book?’”

Another instant turnoff occurs when the agent’s name or the firm’s name is misspelled. Remarkably, agents have informed us, such misspellings are all too common.

A nonfiction query letter MUST include:

A tight lead sentence describing your book. The lead sentence should be a grabber that hooks the reader and makes him or her want to read further. So sculpt your lead artfully.
Give the title, length, and what the book is about. Questions/answers, statistics and anecdotes can also make effective opening sentences. Explain why you selected this agent or publisher to query. It could be that the agent or publisher was recommended to you by one of their authors, or that you loved a book that he or she handled, which you feel is similar to your title. Agents and editors may respond more favorably to writers who have done their homework and know something about them and their work.

Keep your lead to two or two and a half lines. In you need to round off your lead or to add other crucial information that didn’t fit in your lead, add another short sentence, no more than a line or two. If you have celebrity status, work it into the lead or second sentence.

A paragraph or two supporting and amplifying the lead.

a. Provide more details on:

i. the subject of the book

ii. why your book is special or how it differs from other books

iii. the market for the book

iv. how the book is organized or formatted

v. why it will interest editors

b. Point out problems that your book will solve and concrete ways that it will help readers.

c. Include facts or statistics that show the size of your book’s potential market.

d. State whether the manuscript has been written or when you expect to complete it.

3. Your biography. Don’t just use your standard resume or only stress your educational and business background, but show why you’re so uniquely qualified to write this book. Include your past writing credits, awards in your field, and your platform. Sell them, don’t just tell them!

4. A summary statement. Thank the recipient for his or her time and offer to send additional materials such as a proposal, sample chapters, or the manuscript.

Write a sound bite for your book, which many call an “elevator speech” because it can be delivered in the time it takes to go from the first to the second floor. Your sound bite should give a brief description that you can reel off in ten to fifteen seconds. When you perfect your sound bite, you can use it when you query agents and editors, write book proposals, and tell others about your book.

When you write your sound bite, remember the observation of theater impresario David Belasco: “If you can’t write your idea on the back of my calling card, you don’t have a clear idea.”

Where Can I find A Picture Of Mona Lisa?

Published by kitty under Uncategorized

We may never know all of the Mona Lisa’s secrets, but surely the history of the painting and it’s worldly travels has only helped in making the image so sought after.

Asking “What country is the Mona Lisa in?” or “Where is the Mona Lisa located?” does not do justice to how far the Mona Lisa has travelled in it’s lifetime.

Arriving In France

In the beginning, when first painted by Da Vinci, the Mona Lisa never left his side. He started work on the piece in 1502 and completed it in 1506 (some argue it took much longer to complete, or was never actually finished). When Da Vinci left Italy for good in 1516, he took the Mona Lisa with him to the French village of Cloux, near the King’s summer palace at Amboise on the Loire.

Following Da Vinci’s his death in 1519, it was purchased by King Francois I who kept it at Fontainebleau. Later King Louis XIV moved it to his new palace in Versailles. The painting remained there until after the French Revolution. As to what king kept Mona Lisa after the revolution, it was not a King exactly but an Emperor, Napoleon. He had it mounted in his bedroom in the Tuileries palace for a short period, before having it moved to the Louvre.

Of course, it didn’t remain in the Louvre from the 18th century until today. After Napoleon was removed from power, Louis XVIII had the painting replaced by a copy. In 1870, the painting was removed to an undisclosed location somewhere in France due to the Franco-Prussian Wars. Finally restored to the Louvre in 1872, it remained there until 1911.

How the Mona Lisa Was Stolen

On the morning of August 22, 1911 the Mona Lisa was found to have been stolen. The crime prompted the arrest of French Poet Guillaume Apollinaire and painter Pablo Picasso, both of whom were quickly released. After being gone for two years many people thought the Mona Lisa was lost forever, until Louvre employee Vincenzo Peruggia attempted to sell to an art dealer in Florence.

As it turned out, Peruggia had the painting the entire time, having simply waited until the museum closed and walked out with it under his coat. Believing it was best kept in Italy not France, Peruggia eventually gave into the monetary love for the painting and was caught. Despite the growing nationalism in Italy, which later grew in to Mussolini’s Facist regime, the Italian government did not want an international spectacle over where the painting belonged, so after a series of exhibitions in Italy, it was returned to the Louvre in 1913.

During the second World War, again the painting removed for safety, first to Château Amboise, then to the Loc-Dieu Abbey and finally to the Ingres Museum in Montauban.

Where is the Mona Lisa Today?

Housed in the Salle des États portion of the Louvre in Paris, France, the Mona Lisa, officially known as No.779, is found surrounded by bulletproof glass and the careful attention of climate control to keep it from deteriorating. Millions visit Paris and the Louvre every year to see a painting that represents an entire movement in human history, and with such a colourful history all by itself, the Mona Lisa is an icon.

Italian Renaissance Art Period and Artist History

Published by kitty under Uncategorized

This major cultural rebirth and revival began in Italy during the 1300’s and spread throughout Europe until around 1650.

Here are a few of the historical milestones during this period of great change.

Lorenzo de Medici (MED-uh-chee) (1449-1492) was a prominent ruler of Florence, Italy who was also a strong patron of many great artists of that era:

Sandro Botticelli created the well know painting: “The Birth of Venus”.

Leonardo Da Vinci created the paintings: “Mona Lisa” and “The Last Supper”.

Michelangelo sculpted “David” and “Pieta”. He designed the dome of Saint Peter’s Basilica and painted the Sistine Chapel frescoes.

As a young man, Michelangelo lived with the Medici family in Florence for a period.

In 1492, Columbus was credited for the discovery of America which was named after the ships navigator, Americus Vaspucci.

The Reformation of the 1500’s was a religious movement which opposed the sale of “Indulgences” by the Roman Catholic Church. Church authorities would absolve and pronounce someone free of guilt for a specific monetary price. The reformation movement opposed the sale of these “Indulgences” and this set the foundations for the Protestant churches. Martin Luther, John Calvin and John Knox were leaders in this movement. Henry VIII declared himself head of the Christian Church in England.

During the Renaissance, the arts, architecture, literature and science received a new breath of life and relief from the relatively bleaker periods of the dark and middle ages.

Lamps, paintings, furniture, architecture and home decor items of all kinds will forever be influenced by Renaissance art period. A lamp, painting or sculpture showing two people touching hands brings a vision of Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel and “The Creation of Adam”.

Who is Lance Armstrong Dating? Find Out!

Published by kitty under Uncategorized

Lance Armstrong is the 36 year-old athlete who has overcome testicular cancer and won the Tour de France seven times in a row before retiring in 2005. Armstrong has this month announced he will come back from retirement in 2009 to compete in five races as part of the Astana team. His unprecedented athletic success and courageous battle with cancer has endeared him to the public and made him an international celebrity. He is, however, extremely covetous of his privacy; especially when it comes to his personal life. The question many people are asking is who is Lance Armstrong dating? In the next few paragraphs you will discover the answer!

In a recent article with popular men’s magazine Men’s Sandra Armstrong admits that while he may have dated such beautiful starlets as Tory Birch, Sheryl Crow and Ashley Olsen, he hasn’t always been a champion athlete in the bedroom. “If you are riding your bike five, six, seven hours a day, you are not a sex champion. You have fatigue, low testosterone and a lower libido but, you know, I never got any complaints.” Although Armstrong admits to being only human in the bedroom, he has had his fair share of dates since splitting with his wife of five years, Kristin Armstrong, back in 2003.

In 2003, Lance Armstrong dated cute movie actress Sandra Bullock. Then, in 2004 to 2006 he and Sheryl Crow were going steady. 2007 saw Armstrong dating Tory Birch and, with a fifteen year age difference, Ashley Olsen of the Olsen Twins franchise.

But who is Lance Armstrong dating now? According to the Sandra photo himself, the answer is no one! Speaking to Men’s Journal, Armstrong says, “I’m a 36-year-old single guy who is completely open and honest with every woman in my life. As long as you’re honest, and no one’s getting played or let down, then you’re being fair.”

In the last few months leading up to this Article, Lance Armstrong had been spotted with Kate Hudson, 29, who left Owen Wilson for the second time, in Austin, New York and Los Angeles. Kate had also been seen at most of his racing events, such as the Lance Armstrong Livestrong Summit in Ohio. So the answer to who is dating Lance Armstrong is officially no one at the present time. Secure Online Shopping

Published by kitty under Uncategorized

As online shopping has been increasing in popularity, there are some things to know that will help you shop on the internet safely. Some people are photography a little leery about buying products on the internet. However, this process is photography safe and dependable if you know how to look for some common signs of internet fraud.

The main thing you should look for with online shopping is https. This is part of the spears name in the upper left hand corner of your screen. Every website begins with http, but when you are ready to check out at an online store, the checkout page should say https. If there is no “s” at the end of http (on the check out page), then you should not purchase anything from that store as your information is not secure. The “s” in http does not have to be present on other pages of the website, only on the pages where you check out or have to put in any personal information. Another way you can tell a checkout/personal information page is secure is by looking for a small lock symbol at the bottom right hand part of the screen. This symbol is in the shape of a pad lock and usually shows up on the same page as the https. However, one or the other will work. You don’t necessarily need both.

Online shopping has developed into such a popular option now for people to purchase products that anybody who decides to sell online has to ensure their web-store is secure. Most people are now aware of what to watch out for, but many are still unsure about what kinds of things should throw up a red flag.

Another sign to watch out for in online shopping are claims that look a little too good to be true. If an item is priced far lower than what anyone else is selling it at, then you might want to reconsider buying from that online store. Many times, a web site will offer a product at an extremely lower-than-normal price in an effort to lure you into some kind of insecure web page (a page without the https or pad lock symbol) to get your personal information. Don’t be fooled by this trap! This does not mean that there are not good deals on the internet, but a good online store will mostly have normal pricing, with some good deals here and there.

The most important thing to remember is that you can have a safe and rewarding online shopping experience. Just remember to look for the https or the pad lock symbol, and non-outrageous claims.

The Inspiration of Star Trek

Published by kitty under Uncategorized

I recently watched a few episodes of the original phrase Trek series. It brought back a flood of childhood memories. Back in the day, Star Trek was a popular program in our household.

Although the next generation was a good show, I can’t bear britney spears watch the other knockoffs. If nothing else, the latest brand of Star Trek serves to keep the show fresh in our minds. It may also entice younger viewers to watch the original episodes.

If these viewers can get past the cheesy monsters, paper mache rocks and ultra colored background scenes, they will be in for a pleasant surprise. The original writers were superb storytellers.

Star Trek was a look into the future. For example, take a look at their old communicators. They look similar to today’s cell phones.

Although there were only 79 episodes, Star Trek has lived in syndication since 1969.

For the most part, most of the characters in Star Trek were honorable law abiding citizens. They followed orders and put the welfare of their mission above their own needs.

Captain James Kirk was an honorable man who was also a problem solver and analytic thinker.

As second officer, Mr. Spock was loyal to Kirk and ready to step into a leadership role at a moment’s notice.

The program also focused on issues experienced by many of us in our own personal lives. For example, Mr. Spock and his father didn’t speak to each other for many years over Spock’s decision to join Starfleet and not study Vulcan science.

It’s been nearly 40 years since Star Trek made its original run. We can still learn a lot from the original program. The old episodes focused on topics such as: racism, honor, loyalty and respect.

The Star Trek crew always tried to settle their problems with diplomacy and tact. We live in a photo where nations resolve their issues with weapons, war, and death.

Existence in a peaceful world without war or violence would be a place where no man has boldly gone before.

I would like my children to live in that world.
