Lessons From Vegas - How to Get Maximum Value From Online Slots

Published by kitty under Uncategorized

What do you think of as a typical Vegas slot player?

The chances are, unless you’ve been to Vegas recently, the image you have in your mind, may be one that is trapped in time.

Ten years ago, if you had walked into a Vegas casino then you may have seen a floor packed with serious slot players. A mix of people from many different backgrounds, but all of them sitting motionless, transfixed by the reels in hope of hitting a big jackpot.

Back in those days, gambling really was just about the gambling. The main reason to play was to try to get rich easy, rather than being a fun and enjoyable pass-time. Back then, the thought of a slot machine as being a prime source of entertainment was, to be honest, laughable

However, things have changed.

The new generation of players are different. They are used to living in a world that stimulates the senses at every turn. Videos, computer graphics, vibrant soundtracks and cartoon-style entertainment are among the things that a typical slot player wants to see.

However, that doesn’t mean the slot floor is now the exclusive domain of young players. Indeed, far from it. Many of the more ‘experienced’ folk have also taken on the electronic lifestyle and enjoy all of the ‘Bells and Whistles’ that come with.

So what has changed?

Well, when you visit a casino these days, the first thing that may strike you is the intensity and the atmosphere created by the high-tech images and sounds on the slot floor. Games now feature arcade-style graphics, videos, interactive bonus rounds and a whole host of other previously unimaginable features

Try Lucky Larry’s Lobstermania and join in the fun and games as he fishes for the delightfully delicious crustaceans. Go on the oil discovery trail with Texas Ted, in the ever-popular Texas Tea slot. Play slots based on popular board games, like Monopoly or Cluedo, or game show themed slots like Wheel of Fortune or Jeopardy. The choice and variety of Vegas video slots seems almost endless.

Perhaps the most amazing thing to see is that people are playing for pure fun. Yes, you did read that right - they are playing for fun! You will see people laughing and joking with each other as they play the slot bonus feature rounds. Some will even be singing along to the theme tunes!

Having been entertained by the slots, a modern player could leave a playing session having spent $50 or so feeling completely satisfied that they have had some fun, been entertained and in no way feeling downbeat and dejected at having ‘lost’ on the slots. This is the big difference. Players are now seeking value in the form of entertainment.

This value concept is not exclusive to the Vegas Casino player, though, it has also hit the online slot world.

The prime example of this new focus on value would be the popularity of online slot tournaments. Online slot tournaments allow slot players to compete against real people, rather than against the casino. This means there is no ‘house edge’. Plus, there is a social aspect to the tournament play that is completely new and adds to the enjoyment.

So, where is the value in playing a slot tournament?

Well, for a start, every player starting a tournament has the same chance of winning one of the top prizes that everyone else has. You get to play longer, for less money, yet still have the chance to win big. Many casinos now even have free online slot tournaments, so you can win big money without having to wager a cent. In fact, if you know where to look, you will find regular slot tourneys out there that have $100,000 in prize money pools and a top prizes of $50,000!

Just like the way that poker tournaments revolutionised online poker play, slot tournaments have the potential to become the number one way of getting that type of value from online slots”

So, whether you are visiting Vegas or taking a break from your daily activities to play online, remember that the aim should be to have fun, know your limits and treat it as an entertainment

Beware the Personal Relationship Cooperation Psychologist Gurus on the Internet

Published by kitty under Uncategorized

There are far too many personal relationship gurus out there claiming that they know how you can change to best get along with your spouse or partner. Unfortunately, all these personal relationship have now invaded the Internet to supposedly help us with inter-personal relationships.

Now they wish us to come to their websites and buy self-help relationship books? The problem with this is that most psychologists who do family and marriage or relationship counseling are some of the most messed up people on the planet. Their kids are on drugs, on their third marriage and are emotionally unstable. Many suffer from manic depression and they still tell us how to run our lives and relationships?

Beware the personal relationship cooperation psychologist Gurus on the Internet, most are either fraudulent or socio-paths in my opinion and experience. Why would you take advice or buy a book on relationships from someone whose own house is not in order.

One of the biggest problematic tactics these personal relationship gurus use is to get you to believe that your relationships may not be as good as you think. Of course once you start thinking about this or buying into such a concept it becomes a self-fulfilling prophesy. Thus you now need the personal relationship guru faker, where before everything was perfectly fine.

How can a relationship guru who cannot solve their own problems help you with yours? The hypocrisy is a little unnerving and now they are writing articles on popular websites, telling everyone what is wrong with their relationships and how to make them better. Use common sense folks, do not give these self-proclaimed experts one red cent.

A New Antioxidant Fat-Burner for Overweight Diabetics?

Published by kitty under Uncategorized

The natural products market in North America is saturated with products that claim to boost the metabolism to take off the pounds. You can find a hydroxycut caffeine-free fat burner, a liquid gel green tea product, and a variety of supplements that claim to correct “glucose intolerance” (the mainstream term is “insulin resistance”) specifically to help diabetics lose weight. A research study published just in February 2008, however, suggests that a combination of two safe and inexpensive supplements may:

  • Enlarge and activate the mitochondria (”energy machinery”) inside adipose tissue to oxidize lipids
  • Activate insulin to transport glucose and fatty acids out of the bloodstream to fat cells with these activated mitochondria and
  • Do all this without accelerating the heart rate or interfering with the action of thyroid hormones.

These two supplements are lipoic acid and L-carnitine.

Alpha-lipoic acid, or ALA as it’s commonly called, counteracts the glycation, or “caramelizing” of hemoglobin proteins in the blood. This takes stress off the kidneys, and it also gives diabetics lower HbA1C numbers at their regular checkups. The most common form of ALA contains a mixture of chemical isomers, one of which can be used by the body (R-lipoic acid) and one that can’t (the S-form of the same molecule), but every ALA supplement is at least 50 per cent bioavailable.

L-carnitine is not as well known but has some applications in diabetes, too. There’s a growing body of evidence that taking 200 to 2,000 mg of L-carnitine a day may protect diabetic brain tissue.

And it was brain specialists at the University of California at Irvine and Shanghai’s Institutes of Biological Sciences in China who seem to have uncovered the potential for a combination of lipoic acid and L-carnitine to aid weight control

In research just published in February 2008, the scientists exposed adipose cells to lipoic acid, L-carnitine, or a mixture of the two. Neither lipoic acid nor L-carnitine by itself had much effect on the activity of fat cells. Together, however, the two antioxidants caused the energy making organelles known as the mitochondria to literally grow overnight, burning more fatty acids and more glucose.

The combination of lipoic acid and L-carnitine also stimulated the uptake of fatty acids and sugars in the same way as the drugs Actos and Avandia with one critical difference. Actos and Avandia just get the sugar out of the bloodstream and into storage. Lipoic acid and L-carnitine get the sugar and fat into a fat cell that’s primed to burn it.

While taking 2,000 mg a day of both supplements won’t hurt you (be sure to take supplemental biotin if you take lipoic acid), this study does not establish with scientific certainty that the combination of lipoic acid and L-carnitine will act as an effective diet aid. The scientists used cells taken from lab rats, not humans, and the level of the experiment was laboratory, not clinical. Still, as a way of enhancing weight loss without caffeine or thyroid hormone, this study is a very important first step.

Dime Superfecta Tips For Horse Racing Handicapping Betting

Published by kitty under Uncategorized

Dime supers are now offered at many tracks across the country and the bet seems to be a big hit. When playing the superfecta, the bettor tries to pick the first four horses to finish. It is like a trifecta where the bettor picks the first three finishers, a bet that has been popular for years, but the bettor must pick one more horse. Anyone who has done some horse racing handicapping betting for a while knows that this can be a difficult task, but not impossible.

When superfectas were first offered, most tracks only offered a $1 or $2 base bet. So boxing four horses in a superfecta box for a $1 bet would cost $24 because there were 24 possible combinations. Key bets and wheels could be much more expensive as handicappers tried to get more horses into the equation. The original superfecta bets attracted bettors who typically played for more money and bigger bets, but who were willing to risk that much to have a chance to win a large superfecta. When only $1 or $2 bets were available in the superfecta pools, the payoffs were often quite large, but now that many people can play many combinations for a tenth of the original costs, the payoffs have dropped accordingly.

Realizing that they have to please the crowd and small bettors without alienating the large bettors (whales), most race tracks have kept a few $1 minimum superfectas. Though this is only anecdotal, it seems that those superfectas do have larger payoffs even after making the adjustment for the difference in minimum bet amounts. People who prefer to play the supers for larger amounts and expect a big payoff when they succeed can still find action in those superfecta races.

The “dime supers,” as they are called, can be a lot of fun to play and still offer a chance for a good payoff for a winning ticket. For just $2.40 a horse player can box four horses and have a chance to win. A horseplayer with a little more to spend can try wheels and other bet combinations. A five horse box will cost the bettor $6.00.

To figure how much a wheel will cost, just multiply the number of horses in each leg or segment of the bet times each of the others. For instance, here is how to figure what a 10 cent super bet with one horse on top, over three horses, over four horses, over five horses would cost…

A/BCD/BCDE/BCDEF
(1) (3) (4) (5)

Believe it or not, there are actually only 27 possible combinations in the partial wheel bet shown above so

27

x.10

$ 2.70

Therefore, the (partial wheel) bet shown above would cost $2.70 and would include a total of 6 horses spread over the four positions of a super bet.

If you can pick that one horse that will win and find some good horses to place in each of the other positions, for $2.70 you may hit the dime super. If your key horse that you played on top goes off at low odds, the same amount wagered to win might not pay much, but if a few longshots get into the top four spots, you could hit a nice ten cent superfecta.

The secret to betting on horse racing for profit is to get the best value for your money. Good horseplayers look for value in all the pools, especially when one horse is almost certain to win because of its superior ability. While a win bet on such a runner may not pay well, the same money placed in another pool may bring a good payoff. The beauty of the dime super is that you can get a lot of horses, including some longshots, into your betting combinations.

While good horses that lay over the field are the most consistent, they rarely pay well so it is important to get some longshots into your bet. The next part of that scenario, of course, is to get those longshots to run well enough to fill out your dime super bet. You’ll have to depend upon racing luck for that.

The most consistent horse racing systems have to have the basics and a handicapper must understand the basics. I have been around horse racing for 50 years including as an owner. Without the basics the rest is not going to do any good. If you want to learn how a horse owner and insider handicaps just go to http://williewins.homestead.com/truecb.html and get the truth.
